While at first this makes sense, it's not always this simple. The negative thougts in your head must have its power reduced before you can start to accept positve thoughts.

Otherwise your own logic wil not believe the postive thoughts. The best strategy is when you are alone and relaxed, start becoming aware of the negative thoughts. When you have one, repeat it out loud. Continue repeating it over and over exactly as you heard it in your head. What will happen is it's effect will wear away.

When you repeat one negative thought, others may pop up in your head. Good. Deal with the new thought in the same way. Continue with this process until you can take no more. You will find when you repeat negative thoughts, your own logic will now naturally defend you and say" Hey, I'm not stupid. " or " wait a minute, I'm not a failure."

This is much better than sticking artifical positive statements in your head. Obviously you will need more than one session of this. I prefer to have two sessions a day. Remember that new negative thoughts are being created in your head every day as you go out in the world and do your business. It's important to have a session in the evening to clear your head.
